Mr Rossouw has a keen interest in shoulder surgery and the management of shoulder conditions, including rotator cuff injuries, shoulder instability and shoulder dislocations. He has undertaken extensive research on rotator cuff repair and shoulder arthroscopy. He is an enthusiastic and highly regarded trainer amongst his colleagues. Mr Rossouw is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon for Barnet and Chase Farm Hospital and has joined the Orthopaedic faculty of the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust.

Meet Mr Dan Rossouw
About Mr Dan Rossouw
Mr Dan Rossouw is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in the shoulder, elbow and hand. He qualified in 1982 in South Africa and went on to complete his orthopaedic training in the UK. Mr Rossouw currently runs the Shoulder Unit at Barnet and Chase Farm Hospitals, part of The Royal Free NHS Foundation Trust.
As an experienced shoulder surgeon, he is a source of support for colleagues when seeking opinions for more complex cases. He has an interest in shoulder surgery and management of shoulder conditions. His research includes rotator cuff repair and shoulder arthroscopy. He is a trainer, educational supervisor and examiner for FRCS(Orth) examinations.
His main specialist interest is shoulder surgery – particularly shoulder joint replacements using traditional and new minimally invasive (keyhole) techniques. He treats all conditions of the shoulder including sports injuries, rotator cuff injuries and shoulder instability or dislocations. He works with a number of therapists and colleagues to provide rehabilitation after surgery, including physiotherapy, osteopathy and dance therapy.
Mr Rossouw’s enthusiasm for teaching makes him a popular trainer. He teaches shoulder surgery at the Royal College of Surgeons as well as training and examining for FRCS(Orth) examinations. He puts his patients at ease as he is enthusiastic about his field and has an ability to explain conditions clearly. Mr Rossouw is the Governance Lead for Total Orthopaedics, facilitating the group’s quarterly Governance meetings and multidisciplinary discussions. His passion for surgery is only matched by his love for classic motor cars.
