About Our Governance Structure
Total Orthopaedics consists of a group of clinicians working in musculoskeletal medicine.
Our Governance structure helps to quality assure the group to patients, insurers and our partners. It holds us accountable for reviewing and improving operations, processes and performance – outlining how we as an organisation model our own behaviour.
Data Collection and Reporting
As a group, we collect and analyze data on individual activity to present at quarterly and annual Governance meetings. Information and data presented at these meetings addresses difficult decision making, complaints, and complications. These are discussed with the entire medical group and recorded. Data is also presented for numbers of cases seen and treated.
We formally undertake discussions on complex cases within each subspeciality group and to provide ‘real time’ subspeciality support to each other. This is important to provide patients with reassurance that complex decisions are ratified by a group of subspecialists.
The educational component of Governance consists of mini-presentations by members to the group, where new advances in treatments are also formally discussed and assessed for safety, sensibility and benefit.
Registration and Training
All Consultants at Total Orthopaedics individually have full indemnity insurance, maintain annual appraisals, are registered with the General Medical Council (GMC) and comply with training for resuscitation and data protection.
