CMA Statement
Introduction
Total Orthopaedics is a group of 10 Consultant Surgeons and a Consultant Radiologist who specialise in musculoskeletal conditions. Each Consultant is a member of the group which forms a Limited Liability Partnership (LLP), with the registered name of Total Orthopaedics (London) LLP. They work together across a variety of private facilities in London and the Southeast.
All but one of the members continue to work within the NHS, seeing a mixture of private and NHS Patients. Private patients are either insured or self-funding, and the group is registered with all major insurers.
Over the last 12 months the group has developed several new business ventures to provide patients a more complete service, and to become more efficient.
Each member manages their own income and accounts and then pays an amount to the group monthly to fund marketing, administration, IT systems and operational management. Members utilise consulting rooms at a range of private hospitals and individually pay the rate for these facilities as set by the provider.
Financial Interests
The group has vested interest in 3 businesses.
1. R&D Physio London
R&D Physio London is a Physiotherapy company which takes referrals from Total Orthopaedics and other external sources. R&D Physio London also provide treatments such as shockwave therapy and EMMT with equipment provided by Venn Healthcare. Patients that require the intervention of an Orthopaedic Surgeon are referred to the Total Orthopaedics group as appropriate.
Total Orthopaedics (London) LLP have a 50% ownership in R&D Physio London.
2. Imaging London
Imaging London is an easy access Ultrasound service allowing self-funding patients to be seen by a Consultant Radiologist who uses an Ultrasound Machine to scan and diagnose conditions. The service is provided at 45 Queen Anne Street, London, W1G 9JF which is a facility owned by Medical Imaging Partnership. Medical Imaging Partnership own the Ultrasound Machine, and Imaging London pay for the use of this equipment and the room on a case-by-case basis.
Total Orthopaedics (London) LLP have a 70% ownership in Imaging London.
3. Total Administration
Total Administration is a service offered to Total Orthopaedic members (and other Consultants) that provides administrative support including typing, appointment management, billing and other such services required to manage a Consultant’s practice. Not all members use the services of Total Administration, as some choose to employ their own secretaries or use other administrative service providers.
Total Orthopaedics (London) LLP have a 50% ownership in Total Administration.
